The 2025 International Forum on Regional Cooperation for Green Mountain Sustainable Development was successfully held from July 11 to 14, 2025, across Chengdu and Chongqing, China. With a strong emphasis on multilateral cooperation, green technology exchange, and cultural understanding, the forum attracted over 100 participants from South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Europe, including delegates from Austria, Thailand, Nepal, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Laos.
A major highlight of this year’s forum was the AIT Alumni Forum and Roundtable Dialogue, which brought together prominent alumni of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), including national heads of AIT Alumni Associations from Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar. Also in attendance were representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Chinese green technology enterprises, industry associations, NGOs, and academic institutions.
The forum began in Chengdu with participants attending the 2025 China Smart Energy Conference, a national platform showcasing China's advancements in renewable energy and intelligent systems. The next day featured the Central & Southeast Asia Green Energy Technology Matchmaking Conference, which provided a unique opportunity for AIT alumni and other international delegates to directly engage with Chinese enterprises and explore future collaboration in solar energy, biomass, smart agriculture, and low-carbon technologies.

On the morning of July 12, delegates explored Chengdu’s historic site, immersing themselves in the rich cultural history of Sichuan Province. In the afternoon, the delegation took the high-speed train to Chongqing, one of China’s most vibrant green-tech hubs. That evening, participants witnessed an aerial drone show, which left a strong impression with its display of synchronized lights, renewable energy themes, and symbols of international friendship—a vivid demonstration of China's progress in aerial robotics and smart city technology.

The Main Forum was held on July 13 in Chongqing, serving as the intellectual centerpiece of the event. High-level representatives from international organizations, Chinese government agencies, and enterprises gathered to share experiences, policy insights, and project updates focused on green mountain development, climate resilience, and sustainable rural revitalization.
The second half of the forum was dedicated to the AIT Alumni Roundtable Dialogue, where AIT alumni from multiple countries discussed:
Ø Their role in promoting clean energy innovation in their home countries
Ø Opportunities for south-south cooperation in energy, e-commerce, and sustainable development
Ø Pathways for engaging youth in environmental leadership and entrepreneurship
Ø Strengthening AIT’s regional network to support policy, research, and enterprise incubation
This dynamic exchange highlighted AIT’s long-standing commitment to training future green leaders across Asia and its growing influence as a bridge between China and regional partners.
The evening concluded with the Green Pal Gala Event, a festive celebration featuring multicultural performances, cross-cultural exchanges, and a shared vision of a greener future. It served not only as a social gathering but as a meaningful moment of friendship, cultural respect, and community building.

On the final day, delegates visited several leading Chinese enterprises and demonstration zones in Chongqing:
Ø Hairun Energy Saving Co. Ltd., a key player in intelligent HVAC systems and green building solutions
Ø New Century Electric, specializing in smart grid technology and clean energy integration
Ø Sanfeng Environmental, known for its advanced solid waste treatment and waste-to-energy innovations
Ø Zhou Jun Ji Hotpot Industrial Park, where green industrial practices are applied in food processing and cultural branding
These visits provided delegates with hands-on insights into China's practical applications of clean energy and sustainable industrial development. Many expressed strong interest in bringing similar technologies and models to their home countries, particularly in rural electrification, decentralized energy systems, and low-carbon infrastructure.

The 2025 AIT Alumni Forum and its integration into the broader Green Mountain Sustainable Development Forum exemplified the power of alumni networks, international cooperation, and shared learning in driving meaningful green transformation. Through knowledge sharing, field exposure, and trust-building dialogue, the event reinforced the importance of cross-border collaboration in achieving sustainable development goals.
The success of this forum underscores the growing role of AIT alumni as connectors, innovators, and changemakers in the global transition toward a cleaner, smarter, and more inclusive energy future.
